FISHERINV Function

Basic Description

The Excel FISHERINV function calculates the inverse of the Fisher Transformation and returns a value between -1 and +1

Syntax: FISHERINV( y )

Where y is the value for which you want to calculate the inverse of the function.

 

Examples

The spreadsheet below shows examples of the Excel Fisherinv Function, used to calculate the inverse of the Fisher Transformation for 3 different values. The formulas are shown in the spreadsheet on the left and the results are shown in the spreadsheet on the right.

 Formulas:

1 =FISHERINV( -0.2 )
2 =FISHERINV( 0 )
3 =FISHERINV( 2.8 )
 Results:

Fisherinv Function Common Error

If you get an error from the Excel Fisherinv function, this is likely to be the #VALUE! error:

#VALUE! Occurs if the supplied value of y is not recognised as a numeric value in Excel
