FISHER Function

Basic Description

The Excel FISHER function calculates the Fisher Transformation for a supplied value.

Syntax: FISHER( x )

Where x is the value at which you want to calculate the function.

 

Examples

The spreadsheet below shows examples of the Excel Fisher Function, used to calculate the Fisher Transformation for 3 different values. The formulas are shown in the spreadsheet on the left and the results are shown in the spreadsheet on the right.

 Formulas:

2 =FISHER( -0.25 )

 Results:

Fisher Function Common Errors

If you get an error from your Excel Fisher function this is likely to be one of the following :

#VALUE! Occurs if the supplied value of x is not recognised as a numeric value
#NUM! Occurs if the supplied value of x is ≤ -1 or ≥ +1
